Pricing and Offers

6 clear answers about pricing and offers.

How do you decide what my car is worth?

We check whether it can be repaired and resold, and which parts still have buyers. We also look at its weight and whether the catalytic converter is there. Your description of the car is where every quote starts.

Will the price change when you arrive?

Only if the car is different from what you described. A missing converter, an engine that's been pulled or damage you didn't mention can change the number. If that happens, we explain why, and you can say no.

Why do different buyers give such different prices?

Some buyers only pay for scrap weight. Others resell parts or fix cars. Some quote high to get the appointment, then cut the price in person. Ask any buyer whether their quote is firm before you book.

Is it worth fixing my car before I sell it?

Usually not. A repair rarely adds as much to the offer as it costs. Get a quote before you spend money on a car you plan to sell.

Does a car that doesn't run have any value?

Yes. Its parts and metal are worth something even when the engine is dead. Heavier vehicles and popular models tend to be worth more.

How long is my offer good for?

Metal and parts prices move, so offers don't last forever. We'll tell you how long yours stands when we give it.

Paperwork and Ownership

7 clear answers about paperwork and ownership.

What do I need on pickup day?

The registered owner needs government photo ID and the vehicle registration. We bring the bill of sale and fill it out with you.

Can someone else sell the car for me?

Only the registered owner can sign the bill of sale. If they can't be there, call us before booking. We'll talk through what's possible.

I lost my registration. Can I still sell?

Often, yes. A registry agent can look up the vehicle and print a copy for you. Bring your ID when you go.

There's still a loan on my car. What now?

A lien means the lender has a claim on the car. Contact your lender for a payout figure. The loan must be cleared before the sale can be completed.

My parent passed away and left a car. Who can sell it?

Usually the executor named in the will. Bring the documents that show you're the executor, plus your own ID. If no executor has been named yet, get legal advice first.

What happens to my licence plate?

You keep it. In Alberta, plates stay with the person, not the car. Take it off before we tow, then move it to another vehicle or return it to a registry agent.

Do I need to cancel my registration and insurance?

Yes. Visit a registry agent to cancel or transfer the registration, then call your insurer. Ask about a refund if you paid ahead.

Pickup and Towing

6 clear answers about pickup and towing.

Do you charge for towing?

No. The tow is free on every vehicle we buy, and it's never taken out of your offer. Read more about our free towing.

How soon can you come?

Inside Calgary, same-day or next-day pickup is often possible. For towns outside the city, we confirm a time when you call.

Can you tow from an underground parkade?

Usually, yes. Tell us the ceiling height and how to get in. Some parkades need a smaller truck or a building contact to open the gate.

My car has flat tires and no keys. Is that a problem?

No. Tell us ahead of time so we bring the right equipment. Missing keys don't stop a sale, as long as you can prove ownership.

Do I have to be there?

The registered owner needs to sign and show ID, so plan to be there for the visit. It's usually quick once the paperwork is ready.

Do you pick up outside Calgary?

Yes. We serve 28 communities, from Banff to Brooks and Red Deer to Lethbridge. See our areas we serve page.

Payment

3 clear answers about payment.

When do I get paid?

Before the car leaves. We pay you at pickup, after the bill of sale is signed.

How will I be paid?

You'll know the method before the truck is booked. When a vehicle is headed for scrap, Alberta rules call for a traceable payment method rather than cash. We'll explain your options on the call.

Why do you need my ID?

Alberta's scrap metal rules require buyers to record a seller's name, address and government photo ID. The rules are there to stop the sale of stolen vehicles and parts.

Vehicles We Buy

7 clear answers about vehicles we buy.

What kinds of vehicles do you buy?

Cars, SUVs, minivans, vans and pickup trucks. That includes running, non-running, rusty and damaged vehicles.

Do you buy hail-damaged or written-off cars?

Yes. Hail, flood and collision damage are all fine. If your insurer declared it a total loss, tell us its status when you call.

Do you buy trucks and work vehicles?

Yes. Half-tons, diesels, work vans and small fleets are welcome. Our cash for trucks page covers them in depth.

Will you buy a car with no catalytic converter?

Yes, but the offer will be lower. Since September 1, 2025, Alberta requires a VIN or proof of ownership when a converter is sold. Leave yours on the car if you can.

Can I sell more than one vehicle at once?

Yes. Tell us about each one when you call. We'll quote them together and try to collect them in a single visit.

Do you buy motorhomes, trailers or motorcycles?

Call us about these. Whether we can make an offer depends on the unit, so we'll give you a straight answer on the phone.

Is there anything you won't buy?

We won't buy a vehicle from someone who can't prove they own it. If your situation is unusual, call and ask.

Calgary-Specific Questions

4 clear answers about calgary-specific questions.

My car is parked on the street and won't start. Is that a problem?

It can be. Calgary bylaws expect cars on the street to be able to drive, and to move within 72 hours. A car that can't move may be ticketed or towed at your cost. Selling it quickly avoids that.

Will a hail claim affect selling my car?

If your insurer paid you and you kept the car, its record may show the damage. That's fine with us. Tell us the details, and we'll price it as it is.

Is it better to sell before or after winter?

If the car is already struggling, sooner is usually better. Cold snaps finish off weak batteries and starters, and snow makes pickups harder.

My car failed its out-of-province inspection. Will you buy it?

Yes. Older cars from other provinces sometimes fail it. If the repairs cost more than the car is worth, selling it can make more sense.
